To get this high quality, the Sintra has a number of extraordinary features. This compact espresso machine provides a lot of service for its size. Its sleek, timeless design has minimum buttons for maximum functionality. The preset buttons for single and double shots mean you won’t have to guess when the brewing’s done, though you can reprogram those settings to customize the strength of the espresso you make. The steam/hot water attachment is easy to use: just press the appropriate button and wait a few seconds, then froth some milk or dispense hot water for tea, instant soup, or other hot-water needs.

This machine uses custom capsules of espresso. The small plastic capsules are premeasured for one use each, and refills are available in a variety of roasts, from mellow and delicate to intense and strong. Just plop a capsule in the capsule holder and slip it into the spout ring, which has an attachment that punctures a hole in the capsule and perforates the bottom. After making the coffee, tip the used capsule into the garbage can and you’re ready to brew again.
