The the I-1 Grinder is a flat wheel grinder like many large commercial espresso grinders found in coffee shops. The Ascaso I-1 flat grinding wheels ensure ultra precise grinding of coffee beans. The wheels turn at 700 RPM for quiet, low static operation. Made of tempered steel, the blades offer extremely long life and they are replaceable. The grinding wheels are mounted on a heavy-duty platform made of brass, which weighs in at nearly 5 pounds itself. The platform insures that the wheels spin in perfect balance and with virtually no vibration. We recommend the flat grinding wheels if you will be grinding mainly for espresso. The Ascaso grinders have a Micrometric Regulation System (MRS) to control the quality and consistency of the grinds. This system allows for unmatched, precise adjustments to the grind setting, which is critical for espresso grinding. You can grind coffee for drip, French press, Turkish, and espresso. If you have an espresso machine, you will enjoy the convenience of being able to grind directly into the coffee holder for your machine. Detailed Product Features Simple Manual Operation On the side of the grinder there is a button that you can control the main power. Just under the coffee dispensing chute, another spring-loaded manual on/off button is present, and when pressed, the grinder will start, then immediately turn off when the button is released. Place the coffee holder (or any storage container) against the button to start grinding and then remove the coffee holder when the desired amount of coffee has been dispensed.
